From Evan: 1) Develop inexpensive, modular, work stations to supplement the mobile needs of this traveling show. (2) Manufacture of basic (electronics) tools to foster individual homework. (3) Organize virtual library. (P2P suggested.)

What, exactly, are you suggesting with this? If we can prove fair use, get digital licenses for multiple copies of texts, or only get creative commons/non copyrighted works then I am all for digital formats. I just want to make sure we cover our bases when it comes to file sharing.
Maybe if we own the files and present them for viewing only without downloads?
Maybe a physical library supplemented by P2P would be the best solution?

I like this. Can you go into more detail? Maybe designing something like this would constitute the first stage of the project?
(2) Manufacture of basic (electronics) tools to foster individual homework.
This would also be good, but we should also concentrate on equipment to be shared by the group. What tools did you have in mind? Soldering irons and helping hands are inexpensive, but a simple digital oscilloscope would be a good project. Other possibilities: function generators, fume extractors, solder pots, etc.

From David:
I'm in for Tuesday and I like the ideas suggested: modular workstations, tools (although that may be more of a procurement issue), virtual library (for copyleft or owned media). Seth brings up a good point that multiple copies or a multi-copy license would need to be owned by the group for a P2P system. I am fairly sure a system could be designed such that a single digital copy could be circulated with only one person in possession at a time. I would also be interested in a 3d printer or DIY CNC project (as part of the modular workstation?).
