This Forum is a place where we can exchange ideas about the creation of a Birmingham hackerspace in a safe and respectful environment.
1) No trolling. If you want to be a troll just skip on over to 4chan.
2) No flame wars.
3) Be respectful of other member's opinions and suggestions. You have a right to disagree just do not be an asshole about it. Instead simple state your disagreement and argue for an alternate suggestion without deriding the aforementioned suggestion.
Example: "I don't like (x), perhaps it would be better if we did (y)" not "(x) is a stupid and lazy idea, we should be doing (y)"
Violations of these policies wil lead to a warning. After a two warnings a member will be banned for a month. Upon return banned members will be in a probationary period lasting a month. Additional violations during this period will lead to a permaban. Any member that attempts to create a new account while banned will also be permabanned.

I have added these rules simply because I believe they are necessary to create civil discourse within the forum. These rules have no bearing upon membership to the group and apply only within the forum.
That being said it is obvious to me that I cannot enforce them without a consensus and I do not wish to be the police. I would hope this is obvious in that no formal warnings or bans have been applied.
There are other administrators and they have the authority to deal with people as they see fit. I have given a framework for others to apply if they see the need, and the other administrators have the ability to modify my rules. It is my firm belief that it is necessary to remove myself from this equation.
